Music Box
In this application, the BioWall becomes a music box, playing a minuet by J.S. Bach. The visitor can interact with the machine by adding and removing the notes played with a simple pressure on a membrane.

The BioWall goes well beyond its intended purpose as a prototype for novel bio-inspired computing machines. In this experience, our reconfigurable electronic tissue acts as a giant music box, and puts you in the role of the composer!

At startup, the BioWall becomes the cylinder of a music box, unrolled and flattened. The green elements on the BioWall are the pins of the cylinder: at each passage of the mobile comb (the red bar moving from left to right), the pins are read and generate the corresponding notes. You will have recognized J.S. Bach's minuet in G major, of course!

If J.S. Bach is not to your taste, by touching any element of the BioWall you can get rid of existing pins or add new ones. Let's see how you fare as a composer!
